Service Description

Join me Esther at Esther's Manna House for a cooking demonstration on how to make a simplified version of Goan Pork Vindaloo at home. (It doesn't need to be hot! ) No cooking skills required. Suitable for all including - GF and lactose free (GF and lactose free must advise us immediately after booking) Ages - Above 13 (13-17 year old must accompany a paying adult). Vindaloo* - Vindaloo originated in Goa. It is a dish which evolved from Portuguese roots and has a unique flavour that is a great example of India's cultural history. 'Vindahlo' or Vindaloo in Goan simply means 'vin' or vinegar and 'ahlo' which is the Portuguese word for garlic resulting in a wonderfully spiced pork (with garlic). This is my version Vindaloo of that which you will master and cook to your own taste buds (as you like it). So let's cook together Vindaloo (a full meal). Eat in or take home (with rice, Indian bread of your choice or even a simple Indian salad at the end of the class or simply bring containers and take it home. The session includes; - Introduction to spices and herbs used on the day (including medicinal and therapeutic uses). - Demo/Taste/Hands on cooking of Pork Vindaloo from scratch. - Learn how to do Rotti, Paratha & Rice (the accompaniments that makes your lunch or dinner for the day. Note; - We do all the preparation (that is chopping before you come) - you simply bring yourself. - In your session you learn to cook not just for yourself on the day. You take away the knowledge and skills to cook for the whole family and friends mild/medium or hot variations of the same dish. - We only use freshly sourced ingredients and all fresh veg and meat are bought on the day. - Our ethos is to provide all attendees the confidence to cook and eat quality food and as much as possible we source locally (exceptions are the exotic ingredients and world foods). - You are free to communicate after your session for 4 weeks if you get stuck at any stage or have any questions which might help you - we simply want you to enjoy cooking authentic Indian food at home. - We provide cold and hot drinks throughout your session.
